If you have the opportunity to visit Nashville, there really is only one resort to choose for your stay–Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center . On our last spring break roadtrip to Florida, we stayed here as our midway point and knew we would be returning soon, as this resort is too magnificent to only visit once.
While visiting Kalamazoo for my son’s college orientation at Western Michigan University, we had the incredible opportunity to spend a night at The Henderson Castle. This delightful step back in time was more than we could have hoped for and was an enchanting reminder of our trip to Europe a few years ago when we resided in an Austrian castle. Immediately upon entering, our senses were ignited with the spark of history–the aroma of old wood, the creaking of the original flooring and the soft melody of piano transported us to a royal destination.

So on our way back from our incredible Southwest National Parks Tour, Jon, our guide, surprised us with an awesome stop along Route 66, saying our trip wouldn’t be complete without a nostalgic pit stop along this iconic route.
Not sure if it’s my Italian blood, but fine dining ranks right up there with breathing. Over the years, I’ve had significantly memorable experiences at many beautiful restaurants around the world, but there are only a handful that could be described as feeding more than just one’s appetite. For Brooke’s 8th grade graduation, I surprised her with a weekend in Chicago–the highlight being tickets to Hamilton and a magnificent stay at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel.
Until a month ago, Brooke and I have never even heard of Le Meridien Hotels. Yes, we apparently live in some sort of abyssmal cave. Well, let the sunshine in because we have seen Le Meridien Light!

Brooke and I just returned from an amazing experience, beginning with a convenient one hour drive from our home in Naperville, Illinois. We had the pleasure of staying at Grizzly Jack’s Grand Bear Resort, the ideal oasis when visiting Starved Rock.
Starved Rock State Park was like nothing we’ve ever experienced in Illinois! Even before entering the park, you are transported back in time. The town of Utica is so quaint– population a whopping 1,400!

Over the past six years, we have flown to Destin, Florida, several times to visit my son, Ryan, who was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base. Staying on base or wherever Ryan was currently residing, we never had to consider booking a condo or hotel. Nevertheless, I cannot tell you how many times we would gaze starry-eyed at the Emerald Grande–a majestic castle nestled on the edge of the sparkling harbor in dreamy Destin.
Not sure about you, but come January, we are typically fantasizing about a spring break beach vacation that won’t break the bank after all of the holiday spending. You may even lose faith and consider staying home to clean closets or reorganize your garage rather sipping Pina Coladas or enjoying the rhythm of a poolside Mariachi band.
Well have no fear, for we have found the most budget-friendly tropical vacation with many direct flights, a small convenient airport minutes from the pristine resort, the most delicious food and the warmest staff-Park Royal in Cozumel.
