Not sure about you, but come January, we are typically fantasizing about a spring break beach vacation that won’t break the bank after all of the holiday spending. You may even lose faith and consider staying home to clean closets or reorganize your garage rather sipping Pina Coladas or enjoying the rhythm of a poolside Mariachi band.
Well have no fear, for we have found the most budget-friendly tropical vacation with many direct flights, a small convenient airport minutes from the pristine resort, the most delicious food and the warmest staff-Park Royal in Cozumel.
We spent six days at the All-Inclusive Park Royal Cozumel, and it was more than we expected. It is not a 5 Star resort but the room was lovely and clean with a beautiful ocean view. The main pool has a swim up bar, games all day–volleyball, basketball, etc., a secluded meandering section lazy river area, and more than enough lounge chairs. The infinitiy pool is stunning, and more private, with an amazing bar and a picturesque view of the Caribbean Sea (although often blocked by a cruise ship).
You have full use of kayaks and snorkel equipment. Each day the resort offers bike and snorkeling tours, along with a full itinerary of entertainment. The hotel is 3 miles from town, about a 30 minute walk, or a few minutes in a cab. We rented a jeep one day to tour the entire island and visit the ruins. It was such a fun adventure and since we always like to learn about the culture of our destinations, the tour of the ruins was chock full of history.
There are two main restaurants-Italian and Mexican. The Mexican Restaurant has the most amazing seafood, especially the Coconut Grouper which I’m still drooling over today. The service was impressive, as was the attention to detail on food presentation. They did a great job at the buffet everyday as well. One thing is for sure…you will never go hungry.
The entire staff seemed to go out of their way to make things smooth for us. They are so friendly and helpful. Anything that you want they will do their best to give you. The grounds are gorgeous with cobblestone and tropical foliage everywhere.
The secluded beach area is not a huge, but it is still fun to have a small reef at your convenience. If you feed the fish, your snorkeling experience will be amazing.
The evening shows were so much fun–definitely family friendly.
For a budget friendly vacation, that won’t break the bank, we must say this resort is close to perfection! Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation, Park Royal is the perfect Caribbean getaway.
