Since I can remember, I have wanted to own my own business. I am a natural boss–just ask my two older brothers. They’ll tell you just what a “leader” I really am! (Don’t you love euphemisms?)
Honestly though, as far back as preschool I can remember starting businesses–from selling pretty rocks I’d find in the woods in the brook behind my house, to Brooke’s Beauty Spa where I’d sell certificates for fifteen minute massages and charge a few bucks extra for a therapeutic cucumber eye treatment, to a few years later creating and editing a neighborhood pet newspaper, “The Bow Wow News,” where I’d feature a different neighborhood dog each month. The list goes on and on. Entrepreneurship runs through my veins.
Besides co-owning PedisNPassports, I have branched out to becoming a jewelry maker. My yoga teacher introduced me to mala bracelets as a part of therapy and stress relief and we would enjoy making them together. She would bring beautiful stones all the way from Bali and we’d create beautiful bracelets together that I’d give to family and friends. Then, of course, the business light bulb illuminated. I could sell these!
And that’s how Brooke’s Balance Bracelets came to fruition. My bracelets are handcrafted with natural stone beads that I order from Bali and charms that I purchase from many different places. My favorite stones are definitely amazonite, amethyst, agate, tiger’s eye, turquoise and lava stones. I custom make all of my bracelets and no two ever come out exactly the same, since each and every stone is unique. Each bracelet takes about 15-20 minutes to make and I often spend 2-3 hours in the evenings making them. It is honestly very peaceful and relaxing. It brings me joy knowing people will be wearing them and hopefully finding peace when they do.
I currently sell my bracelets here on our blog, at yoga studios, local shops and via social media. I’m hoping to start an Etsy shop and sell on Amazon as well.
Most recently, I am giving a portion of my profits to various charities. I have my elephant collection which I donate to The World Wildlife Foundation, and after my trip to Belize and seeing all of the homeless dogs wandering everywhere, I am donating money to Copper’s Dream. I have also reached out to the Naperville Humane Society and would like to sell paw print charmed bracelets as a fundraiser for them.
If you know of any other companies or charities, that would benefit from collaborating with Brooke’s Balance Bracelets, please let me know! Check out my online shop here and order your custom Balance Bracelet now:)
