This weekend, Brooke had a competition in Indianapolis. Parents were given the option of attending, and asking me to go away for a weekend is the no brainer of all no brainers. I had absolutely no expectations, but was happy to enjoy a weekend with my daughter and experiencing a new city.
I made reservations at the Conrad Indianapolis, having done limited research other than location to The Lucas Oil Stadium, where Bands of America was being held. Driving up to the hotel, we could literally feel the luxury spilling out of the hotel onto the street where the valet was waiting for us. After he whisked our car away, we were greeted with the utmost friendliness and checked into our 10th story suite within 5 minutes.
Having stayed at many luxury hotels, there are five components we require to categorize a great stay: friendly and accommodating staff, a beautiful spa and pool, a luxurious suite, delicious food and an amazing view. Without a doubt, the Conrad Indianapolis hit the mark.
The spa, pool and fitness center are five star quality. The suites are beautifully appointed with a complimentary pillow menu where you can custom order the type of pillow to meet your sleeping needs! The bathroom is so luxurious, with a separate shower, tub and TV. The Capital Grille Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is apparently the only Capital Grille in the country that serves breakfast, so of course that had to be enjoyed! Yummmmm.
Beyond our basic criteria, this hotel is in the ideal location. When you step out onto the street you are right in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, which is a city that far surpassed all expectations. The cleanliness, energy, shopping, restaurants and architecture are incredible. I think we were most amazed by the latter; the beautiful balance of historical and modern structures. Monument Circle was truly surreal. For those history buffs, you will love the audio walking tour. Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument is stunning. The quaint cobblestone streets, horse drawn carriages, and trolleys added to the charm, and majestic fountain, reminded us a bit of the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
Upon our return to the Conrad, I had to check out the incredible wine bar, Tastings. I have never seen a place like this. It is screaming ” Girls’ Night Out”, so ladies book a trip now!
Despite the fact that Brooke’s team did not make it into the finals, the girls had a wonderful time shopping and exploring the city. I am so happy about the memories Brooke is creating as a high school student, being part of this amazing sport. I have never seen her happier!
What we realized about this trip is that a weekend is not a sufficient amount of time to explore Indianapolis. When we return, we will definitely be staying at the Conrad Indianapolis each and every time. It is a luxurious retreat, where you will be truly experience luxury and rejuvenation.
